Checback_pain_man_Thinkstock-511484476_sqk out this major study funded by National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), part of the National Institutes of Health and published by the AMA reporting that lower back pain sufferers got more relief and greater functioning for a longer time from mindfulness (MBSR) than from traditional medical treatment or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Additionally, the mindfulness group reported longer lasting, continued relief than either of the other treatments, even at 52 weeks – from an 8-week MBSR course!!

“It is vital that we identify effective non-pharmacological treatment options for

25 million people who suffer from daily pain in the United States”
—Josephine Briggs, M.D.,Director, NCCIH

I’ll be facilitating an MBSR-style course at the Station House in downtown St. Petersburg, beginning April 27. Please contact me for details.. Space is limited.
