COVID-19 Response

To My Valued Clients,
I hope you are all well!

I am gratefully in good health.

During this unusual and important time, I am committed to continuing to provide emotional support to everyone I have the privilege to serve.

Even though we have initiated CDC recommended cleaning, sanitizing and social distancing measures at the office already, because of developments with the COVID-19, I am transitioning my practice to tele-health video sessionsfor at least the next 15 days. It is the recommended best practice presently from the APA.

I really prefer to see you in my office but I realize my preference is not in the best interests of doing my part in support of addressing this pandemic through social solidarity with social distancing practices. Many clients have already successfully used telehealth for counseling with me.

I have thought and read widely on this and believe video to be a powerful contribution to supporting you, our community, and to maintain our progress in reaching your goals.

I am aware I have not asked you if you would like to use video. I appreciate your understanding for this unilateral announcement. I believe I am placing my services in the best position to be of the best help, for at least the next 15 days. This is an interim measure and I will reevaluate again. It is my hope to be back to meeting in person in the near future.

We can meet online at your scheduled time using an encrypted service named doxy.me There is no app or download necessary. Simply click this link at the time of your appointment:

It is safe, secure and easy. You can use your phone, laptop or pc. Just click and you are in.

If you need help with it just let me know. There are other options available, like Zoom, which I also use, but this is the most simple, secure, and effective approach for sessions that I have found.

These measures are an initial response to an emergent situation. We are all called to respond for our good and the good of all. We will persist, cultivate our resilience, and we will get through this together.

I will continue to listen to the best advice available as we work to help everyone to stay safe and healthy while continuing to provide caring and effective counseling services as part of your overall plan for well being.

I wish all of you, and your family, health, strength and resilience in this crisis. Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns or questions, or if I can be of further service.

With care –
Sincerely,
Michael Whalen LMHC
