Tune in every 1st and 3rd Tuesday on RhinoOnAir.com at 3:06PM, or via podcast, for the next stimulating installment of DayQuest Life iRadio Hour.
Christina’s vitae reads like a workshop in finding yourself by helping others find themselves. The themes of Nature, Connection, Trusting the Process, Service show up all through Christina’s professional life.
Hundreds, more likely thousands, have benefited from Christina’s work in Addictions and Recovery, Mental Health, Health Care, Educaton, Corrections, Community Organizations, Education and Support Groups, Women’s Groups, Families, Faith Communities and Professional Organizations at schools, colleges, community centers, and in her professional counseling office, prior to her retiring from her counseling career.
You’ll hear how she has taught all kinds of people – from Ram Dass on how to use a shovel in the garden at the Omega Institute, to her volunteer work teaching 150 women a year emotional healing and forgiveness, non-violent communication and self-leadership through her current volunteer work at the Coleman, Florida, prison, the largest federal correctional facility in the United States. She is the coordinator of the Alternatives to Violence Project, Tampa, which sponsors this amazingly important work.
Our workshops use the shared experience of both participants and facilitators to examine the ways in which we respond to situations where injustice, prejudice, frustration and anger can lead to aggressive behavior and violence. Then, find our innate power to respond in new and creative ways.
Christina has always been attracted to working in the community and the environment, as a Girl Scout leader for 5 years, as the founder of the first recycling project in her area in the early days of environmental awareness, as an member of The Bridge of Tampa – “envsioning a sustainable future”, as an avid gardener and Earth teacher, as a social and economic justice activist with the Tampa Bay Time Bank, and other organizations and causes.
Listen in as Christina recalls the story an early family hero who inspired her work from early childhood, though she didn’t realize it until today.
Tampa Bay Time Bank: Your hour is equal to every other person’s so the rich don’t get richer and the poor don’t get poorer in Tampa Bay Time. We extend trust and reciprocity across social, economic, ethnic and linguistic lines, weaving community one hour at a time.
